The Prelude of Light allows Link to return to the Pedestal of Time in the Temple of Time. After clearing the Forest Temple, Link returns to the Temple of Time and runs into Sheik. He teaches you that the Master Sword and Pedestal of Time will allow Link to travel through time, essentially allowing him to return to the past when he was 7 years younger, as well as return to his adult form. Sheik teaches you this song to allow traveling easier.
