The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Jabu Jabu's Belly

It's now time to begin the third dungeon of the game, but there's a few things needed before you can get inside it. To start, take out the "Empty" Bottle from Lake Hylia and read the note inside, finding out it's from Princess Ruto and she's trapped inside Jabu Jabu's Belly. Head to King Zora's throne room and talk to him. He'll take the letter from the bottle, letting you keep it. He'll also move out of the way, allowing you access to the area where Jabu Jabu resides.

You will need a fish to get inside, but the shop sells one for 200 Rupees, which is a tad bit too expensive. You can get a free fish by going near the circle of rocks in the water by one of the torches you lit earlier. Use your newly emptied bottle to scoop up a fish. Go back up to King Zora's throne room and use the path behind him to get to Zora's Fountain. Go up in front of Jabu Jabu and "use" the fish to let it free, which prompts it to inhale both the fish and you.

JABU JABU'S BELLY

You're now inside Lord Jabu Jabu's Belly and it's the third dungeon in the game. Equip your Deku Shield, as you're going to need it to deflect back the rocks shot at you by the Octoroks. The first room has two Octoroks, as well as a new enemy called Shabom, which are bubbles that can be destroyed by rolling into them or stabbing them with your sword. To open the door to the next room, target the dangling thing on the ceiling and shoot it with your Slingshot.

In this next room is yet another new enemy, the Biri. These are electric jellyfish that will hurt Link if he hits it with his sword, although they will still take damage. For now, you can either kill it with a Deku Nut/Slingshot combo, or by using your Spin Attack maneuver. You can also just bypass it, so whichever you do, head through the next door.

As you walk into the next room, you'll meet with Princess Ruto. After she falls down the hole, follow suit and jump in after her. Keep talking to her until she says that you now have the privilege of carrying her. Pick her up and go through the door behind you, walking through the tunnel and into the next room.

There is another new enemy in the waters, which are called Stingers. They will fly up into the air when you approach, then move around a bit and swoop in to attack; the Slingshot works well when they first go in the air. Jump down into the water, but don't step on the switch yet. Instead, throw Ruto up on the ledge ahead, then shoot the Gold Skulltula on the wall on your side. Step on the switch to raise the water, then grab the token and climb onto the ledge with Ruto.

Pick her up again and go through the next hallway, shooting the dangling thing to open the next door. As soon as you enter, put Ruto down and deflect the Octorok's rock back at it. Wait for the elevator to come down and jump on it, then head through the door on your right at the top. You should be back in a familiar room now, so go to the end of the room, keeping to the right as a Bari falls from the ceiling.

As you head through the door, you will encounter another new enemy called the Tailsaparan. Ignore them for now and follow the path on the right, stepping on the switch while carrying Ruto to open the door. Through this door, kill the 4 Stingers and a large chest will appear with the Boomerang inside. Head back outside and to the door where you first came in, then go down the left path to find a blue switch. You need to stand on it, then place Ruto on top of it.

With the next door open, go through it and you'll see a giant tentacle hanging from the ceiling. Lock on to it and throw your Boomerang at it to hit its connection to the ceiling. Four hits will defeat it, which will cause the chest with the Dungeon Map to appear. Grab it, head back outside and talk to Ruto get yelled at, before picking her up again and turning left, going through the now opened path and through the door.

In this next room, kill all of the Shabom within the time limit to make the chest with the Compass appear. Head back out and go into the room in the upper right to encounter another Parasitic Tentacle. Kill it the same way as the last one, which will open up the way to the upper middle room. Enter that room to find four Biri and a green Tentacle. With this tentacle down, head back to the room with the holes.

There was a green Tentacle blocking one of the holes before, which was the one located on the left side of the map, near where you entered. Fall through and you'll be in the room that Ruto fell in earlier, but you're on the higher ledge now. There are two Gold Skulltulas in here that you can grab, so kill them with the Boomerang or Slingshot, then grab their tokens with the Boomerang.

Head into the next room and you'll see the Spiritual Stone of Water on the platform ahead. Toss Ruto onto the platform and she'll grab it, but before you can grab her to go home, the platform rises with Ruto still on it. When the platform comes back down, a mini-boss appears!

MINIBOSS: BIG OCTO

The Big Octo's attack pattern is simple. There is the platform in the middle, with spikes protruding, which will hurt you if you touch them. Big Octo simply moves around this platform and try to ram into you. Sometimes it may change direction, or it may burrow into the ground and appear on the other side.

An easy way to defeat the Big Octo is to throw your Boomerang on it, which will stun it. When it is unstunned, it will spin around, so time another throw to stun it with its back to you, which will reveal the weak spot. Attack this weak spot to damage Big Octo. It has four health, so two Jump Attacks will kill it.

After Big Octo is down, jump on the platform and it will bring you to the top. Go through the door and stun the wiggling platforms to stun them. Cross them while they're stunned and go through the next door. Jump onto the next platform, which will lower it to connect with some other platforms below. You need to get through the eastern door, but the switch needs to be weighed down. Head around to grab a box and put that on the switch, then go through the door.

This is the last room before the boss. The first thing you should do is kill all the Biri floating about in the room. Head around to the east side of the room and kill the Gold Skulltula, grabbing its token as you climb the vines. You need to hit the dangling thing to open the boss door, but the webbing is in the way. Get as close as possible to the web, lock on to the switch, then throw the Boomerang. Drop down and go through to face the next boss.
