The AEK-971, short for Avtomat Experimental Koksharov-971, is a Russian assault rifle that was designed in the 1970s to rival the infamous AK-47.
In Battlefield 4 it was first spotted briefly being wielded by Russian forces in the game's debut trailer (see image to the left).
