WiiConnect24 is a feature of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for the Wii console. The service was launched in November 2006, after being announced earlier that year.
WiiConnect24 enables the user to remain connected to the Internet while the console is on standby, much like the successor service SpotPass. This allows the console to receive content such as Wii Message Board messages sent from other Wii consoles, Miis, emails, updated channels and game content, and notification of software updates.
