Wii U Gets New ZombiU Bundle in US and Canada
— Machina, 9th February

What will you do if the zombie apocalypse occurs? Do you have rigorous zombie survival training? Maybe you should! Nintendo is offering one such method to become a zombie pro - a new ZombiU Wii U bundle for the United States and Canada. The bundle contains...

Do you tend to stay with the same console manufacturer for each new generation?
— Dabbadoo, 2nd February

I think I'll be getting the Xbox 720 because of having a 360 this gen. I'd say it makes things easier! Are you loyal to a manufacturer?

That all depends on the games on offer and the services that each company will provide. For example online users of the xbox must pay to use the service but the playstation network is free, and the xbox subscription is not exactly cheap. I have only just realised that it is in fact much better to buy the entire year upfront as a redeemable voucher (these can be found on ebay or Amazon) than the pay per month subscription.

A big issue for me would be the ability to play second hand games on the console, there were rumors that Microsoft did intend to prevent the resale of games but that may very well not be true. There are of course other minor difference that everybody has. I prefer the xbox controller to the playstation controller. It just 'feels' better.

But perhaps there will be a new console company that will steal the show such Steam with the Xi3 Corporation 'Piston'. bbc.co.uk/news/…

It'd be hard to say really. I've always been ridiculous and purchased almost every console at some point (from as far back as the Master System. 3DO? Yes indeed). I'm not particularly loyal and I buy for a variety of reasons. For instance, I only just recently got a PS3 and that's specifically because I owned a PS2. What happened was that I never had an Xbox and skipped a generation so started by getting a 360 so I could go back and play the Xbox classics to catch up.

I'm all over the map. Pretty much the only thing I don't do are dedicated handhelds. I'll play games on my phone very rarely but I tend to hunch too much with handhelds and I stop playing pretty quickly. The only handheld games I ever really cared to play were Pokemon games.

I've always been a bit of a Nintendo fan to be honest but I play my Xbox 360 much more than the Wii so I'd say tastes change over time. I did buy a PS1 just for Gran Turismo so I agree with the notion of the decision to buy being based around games rather than the manufacturer.

Yeah, reading Japanese is what I do for a living (translator). I have trouble keeping the the monster's names straight, though. (To be fair, I'd probably have the same trouble in English.) Yesterday I was well into a quest before I realized I had no idea what I was supposed to be hunting.

So does anyone else think a new Pokemon Snap would be perfect for the Wii U?

Good idea, a Pokemon Snap game would be great :-)

I really enjoyed the game as well. It's quite odd that nothing has been done in terms of real life environments and a game like that. For example you can explore some of the worlds most beautiful places, underwater or hell maybe during the Jurassic period or something and you have to take habitat photos. You would learn something and it would be pretty neat.

I'd like another Pokemon Snap either way but I think it'd be fantastic on the Wii. Taking pictures with the GamePad would be great =). Maybe I just remember it more fondly than it deserves but I really remember enjoying that game.

If the NOE tweet says it then I think we can expect new games?
    — 22nd January

Can't wait. Looking forward to see what they're going to bringing in 2013.

The Nintendo (Japan) website doesn't say "new games" it says "new information" (could be new games, but also could be additional info about games we already known about). NOE tweet does specifically say "new games", but the official announcement quoted in this article does not. (So, why does the title say "new Wii U games", then?) Info on new games would be great, but ... probably best not to let the hype get out of control.

This is kind of ridiculous. Perhaps the ASSes at the ASA should demand that the image of Mario should be erased from the ad, because not every game has Mario in it!

I can't help but blame Nintendo partly, because I really think Nintendo should make this a standard feature across all WiiU games.
