Call of Duty: Ghosts is set following the aftermath of a catastrophic global event that completely shifts the balance of power in the world. The upshot is that the United States is no longer a global superpower, or indeed a superpower at all.
What is left of the the US special forces merge to form an elite group called 'Ghosts'. These Ghosts attempt to deal with the rise of technologically and militarily superior enemies to what remains of the United States.
