Also, I know how you feel. I bought my Wii when Pikmin 3 was "nearly done" for the Wii, and they it got moved to Wii U..... I think this is Wii U's first real system seller.

Did no one actually watch Nintendo Direct? They game a release date. I've updated the VGC database with it. (August 4th in NA, July in Japan)

I don't think it's that big of a game that could compete with the likes of the big name titles like Call of Duty. So, I think they should release it sometime in September or so.
