Tales of Graces is very similar to past tales in terms of how the player gets around. theirs filed maps. towns and dungeons though a world map isn't present in a traditional sense.
Tales of Graces F uses a modified version of the traditional system called the Style Shift Linear Motion Battle System. Ths systems allows the player to move in a faster more evasive manner than past Tales. Their is no TP gauge this is replaced with CC (Chain Capacity). Skills and other actions lower the meter and doing nothing or charging will bring the meter back up. Like in previous Tales their are normal attacks called Assault Artes and special artes called Burst Artes.
In the tales series Artes are used to dish out extra damage aside from typical character combos. In general these abilities are learned over the course of the game by leveling and in some cases side events. Moves are usually designated to one button and 4 artes can be mapped Linking these moves with your normal combos is the bread and butter of the Tales series in terms of being offensive.
