On January 23, 2013, Nintendo announced that they were remaking Wind Waker and releasing it on the Wii U. On June 11, 2013, at E3 2013, Nintendo released more details on the HD remake, as well as a release window. It will be released in Japan in September of 2013, and in other regions in October of 2013.
Wind Waker HD will feature a graphical improvement, including running in 1080p, as well as improving refining textures, among other things. Nintendo is also upgrading and adding some new components to the game, including the ability to use the Wii U Gamepad as your inventory, allowing the player to assign items to buttons much more easily. The Gamepad can also be used to control some of the items, such as the Hero's Bow. Since the game is able to load faster, players can also speed up their boat travel if they want.
Upon rescuing Tingle, players would gain access to the Tingle Tuner in the GameCube version of the game. This allow players to connect the Game Boy Advance to the Gamecube and perform a variety of tasks that could help Link out on his adventure. In the HD Remake, this has been replaced with the Tingle Bottle function, which incorporates the Miiverse and allows players to send messages to each other via bottles.
