Big Octos are large squid-like creatures with yellow eyes that appear in the Great Sea when Link gets close enough. There are only six of them in the game, and you can tell you're close to one when you see a flock of seagulls in the air. When you get close enough, the Big Octo will suck you into a whirlpool, trying to suck you into its mouth.
It does nothing more in attacks than this, but you need to destroy all of its eyes before it sucks you in and spits you out in another area of the Great Sea. Bombs destroy each eye in one hit, arrows in two hits and the Boomerang in four hits. The Boomerang might be ideal to use, because it can hit up to five eyes at once, but the other two weapons make it easier since they destroy the eyes more quickly.
Here are the locations of all Big Octos, along with how many eyes they have. Also, whenever you kill a Big Octo, they usually leave a reward behind in a chest that you need to bring up with your Grappling Hook.
