![]() | The Phoenix is a swift and deadly spacecraft that is rapidly replacing the older Scouts and Corsairs of the Protoss main fleet. Phoenix patrols are a common sight on the outer rim of Protoss territory, where they scour deep space for alien threats. The Phoenix’s armament of Twin Ion Cannons is well suited for ship-to-ship combat and proficient at strafing light ground targets. When confronted by more dangerous enemies, a Phoenix pilot can unleash a short-lived gravity beam by overloading the ship’s warp field through its inertial drive. The beam can immobilize an opponent for a few precious seconds. |

General Strategy
-
Light craft that can attack air units.
-
Very fast unit, good for scouting or hunting down slow-moving air units that cannot retaliate, like Overlords or Banshees.
-
Increased damage against light targets, like Mutalisks.
-
Can lift non-massive enemy units with its Graviton Beam. This is particularly useful to take dangerous targets out of the battle, or destroy them if you have enough Phoenixes.
-
The Phoenix can fire its weapons while moving, giving it a slight edge in tactical maneuverability.
-
Anion Pulse-Crystals increas the range of the Phoenix weapon.
Countermeasures
VS Terran
-
Train a Ghost and use an EMP round to drain their energy and damage their shields.
-
Launch Vikings, but be wary of hit-and-run tactics since Phoenixes are much faster.
-
Use large groups of Marines, with a few Thors to support them if possible.
VS Zerg
-
Corruptors are very effective against Phoenixes.
-
Build Hydralisks, and be sure to research the Grooved Spines upgrade.
VS Protoss
-
Build Stalkers to combat them; research Blink to make it more difficult for them to escape.
-
Summon High Templars and use the Feedback ability to drain their energy and deal damage.
