![]() | In the aftermath of the Brood War, weapon technicians proposed a radical new concept to resolve the critical weaknesses in Terran anti-air capabilities. Based on technologies used in the Siege Tank, the Viking was designed to be the ultimate anti-air and ground-support weapon system. With the ability to change from an assault walker to an air-superiority fighter, the Viking can fulfill different tactical needs in a developing battle. However, finding pilots who excel in both modes as proven difficult. Those who survive the adaptation become the ultimate Terran aces. |

Flight Manual
-
Slow-moving armored craft that can transform to attack air or ground targets.
-
Switch to Assault Mode to land in unguarded bases, eliminate key structures or personnel, and then take off.
-
Scour the field in Fighter Mode to hunt down Overlords, Colossi, and enemy air units.
-
If you have air superiority, switch to Assault Mode and support your ground troops with extra firepower.
-
The transformation between Fighter Mode and Assault Mode takes around 3 seconds. It is not advised to activate it under heavy anti-aircraft fire.
Countermeasures
VS Terran
-
Build Missile Turrets in key points around your base. If the enemy decides to switch to Assault Mode, engage with Marauders and Siege Tanks.
-
Use Ravens to deploy Auto-Turrets. Use Point Defense Drones if you are bringing your own Vikings to bear.
-
Marines with Stimpacks are good to take down Vikings in Fighter Mode and decent against Vikings in Assault Mode if they have Medivac support.
VS Zerg
-
Use the Queen in tandem with a few well placed Spore Crawlers. Be sure to keep your Overlords covered by your defensive structures or anti-air units.
-
Spawn Hydralisks and research Grooved Spines. As always, be sure to focus fire.
-
If the Vikings transform to Assault Mode, surround them with Zerglings or Roaches.
VS Protoss
-
Cover your mineral line with a few Photon Cannons.
-
Get Stalkers and research Blink. Vikings fly slowly, so you can potentially wipe them out with a well placed Blink and focus fire.
-
Cast Psionic Storm or attack with a few Archons.
