Mountain Path
Unlike the rest of the game, the mountain path has a mini-map due to the low visibility. Go straight and climb the ladder to spot the cabin nearby and grab the Green Herb on the generator. Drop down, break the barrel, and drop down again for more crates and the Semi-Auto Sniper Rifle.
Head up the steps and take out the two Mesets with a Flash Grenade or handgun. Head across the wooden plank and jump down.
FOS Memory Device B
When you land, head southeast on the mimi-map where you'll run into some J'avo. They keep coming, so once you are clear continue south across a gap and grab the FOS Memory Device B.
FOS Memory Device A
Head north to a ladder where you are ambushed by J'avo and clear them out. Once they are all dead, head past the ladder and climb the icy path as you fight off J'avo. When you reach the top, grab the FOS Memory Device A and then check the nearby cranes driver side for a Serpent Emblem.
FOS Memory Device C
In the southwest section of the timber yard, take the bridge and follow the path to a hut with crates, 4,000 Skill Points, and Flash Grandes x2. Outside the hut, find the FOS Memory Device C and a Seprent Emblem on the top of the radio tower across the way.
Head back to the timber yard, taking out the Meset with a Flash Grenade, and then slide or snowmobile down the hill. Climb the ladder we passed earlier and make sure you have 2 inventory spots available. There is a small alcove that you'll need to slide down to reach the cabin and it contains a Green Herb and Red Herb that you can get by tapping Square/X.
Once you have landed, head back up the steps and turn left to pass the radio tower and reach the cabin.
Snow-Covered Mountain
Enjoy the awkward sexual tension between Sherry and Jake and prepare for a fight. When you have control, collect the Flash Grenade and 9mm Ammo inside the cabin and then cover the windows.
After only a short period of time, the J'avo will drop down from the ceiling for even more area to cover. Take position by the door and kill the J'avo as they enter.
When the J'avo blow the side wall, kill them and collect any loot before hoping on the snowmobiles.
There is a unique medal for defeating all the enemies around the cabin, but doing so before the avalanche reaches you can be difficult. Optimize your time and make sure you stay on the offensive for the whole battle.
Another stupid driving section...on ice now. As you hold R1/RT to drive, hit Square/X to collect skill points that randomly make an appearance on the ground. They are scattered between the trees and on cliffsides, but don't go out of your way to get them and risk death.
The only thing that needs to be pointed out is that there is a Serpent Emblem just after the icy slopes that you jump over. Stick to the right side of the slopes and when the ground gets smooth again, look for it to the right side of the tunnel entrance.
As you make your way across the breaking ice, be ready to hit X/A as you jump off the cliff's edge for a QTE.
Cave
Head through the cave to a door and open it for a scene. You need to be extremely quite though the next bit of the game, avoiding the bug's light, and not drawing any attention to yourself. If you do draw attention, you will need to jump in the many dumpsters to avoid death.
Because the bugs block your path and shooting draws too much attention, you'll need to run up behind them and hit R1/RT to melee them to death.
There is a unique medal for beating this section of the game without killing any of the bugs. Use the dumpsters and try to stay out of the light, when possible.
Head forward and wait for the bug near the dumpster to turn and then squash it. Do the same thing to the next bug and jump down to another dumpster.
There are two bugs in the icicled hallway and Ustanak has moved to the other side of the icicles. Don't worry, neither the bug nor Ustanak can see you through the iced wall, so kill the two bugs blocking your path.
Hop up on the cement block and grab the 2,000 Skill Points from the chest and look inside the area where Ustanak is. There is a chest with 4,000 Skill Points back there that can only be gotten in co-op.
The reason co-op is required is that your partner will not follow you into the dumpster and get themselves killed when you distract Ustanak. If you are lucky enough to be playing co-op, set a Remote Bomb on the first icicle closest to the cement block and then head back to the dumpster. Set it off, and hop inside the dumpster. If Ustanak walks back to the cave, try again. If he walks past the dumpster and away, you are clear. Kill the bug in the cave and collect your reward.
Jump down to the next area and push the dumpster out of the way. After Ustanak walks away, head into the Maintenance Room to see four dumpsters and a lot of bugs. Firstly, only one of the dumpsters is empty and the other three are full. Make sure you know which it is, just in case, and then check out the bugs patterns.
The AI is smart enough to leave the work to you and stay out of the way. Head past the two eastern dumpsters and stand in the opening, just above the ladder. A bug circles the area and will head left past the area, leaving its back exposed. Rush in and squash it and retreat to safety up the stairs.
The next bug to go after is the one on the far left. Take position on the stairs and when it turns around, rush in and take it out. Be careful, as there is another bug that covers that area as well and may see you if they are too close.
Once the far left bug is dead, the next one to get is the one that coveres the northern and western area. Wait for it to separate from the other bug and when it turns its back you can rush in and kill it. There are only two bugs left and you should be able to figure these out yourself.
Once all bugs are dead, head over the railing to a lower area with 5,000 Skill Points and then go to the exit, but do not go through. Instead, turn around and spot a Serpent Emblem. In order to get this safely, interact with the door and use the L stick to complete the first half. Once you are ready, shoot the emblem and quickly hit O/B to go through the door.
You aren't out of the woods yet. As you walk across the crunchy ice, Ustanak breaks through a nearby wall and pursues your characters. Dash as fast as you can down the hall until you crawl/slide into a small alcove.
Enjoy the breather and climb the two ladders to the opening we first saw Ustanak in. There are Remote Bombs x4 in the area that you should grab, no matter if you are Sherry or Jake, and the vault Sherry over the broken ladder.
Cave: As Jake
- After helping Sherry up, set a Remote Bomb western area by the pillar and run back to the ladder where you helped Sherry. Blow the explosive to draw Ustanak away and allow Sherry to grab the keycard.
Cave: As Sherry
- Wait for Jake to set the bomb and draw Ustanak away and rush in to grab the keycard by rapidly pressing X/A.
Once you have the keycard, meet at the door and open it. The sound alerts Ustanak to your location as you close the bulkhead door. Make your way from bulkhead to bulkhead, using the L stick and O/B until you reach the drill on the other side and hop onboard.
No matter who you are playing, rotate the L stick and hit R1/RT to push the Ustanak back. When you reach the final wall, hit X/A to drill him into the wall. Failing a QTE will cause you to be pushed back until you eventually die.
