Research Facility - Detention Center
6 Months Later, June 30 2013
Jake and Sherry have spent the last six months in a Neo-Umbrella detention center. Why six months? Because it pushes the timelines forward to the same period; there is no way Jake would stay a hostage this long.
Escape from Detention - Jake
- As the chapter starts, Jake breaks free of his guards and is in left weaponless. Start by defeating the enemies as they enter the room and grab the Switchboard Key. Once all enemies are dead, head to the wall box and shut down the power to release Sherry.
- When you have control again, dash down the corridor and take out the lone J'avo. Make your way into the lab and hide behind a counter to watch the patrolling J'avo. You want to stealth kill the enemies in this level to avoid endless enemies spawning.
- Be careful and head up the stairs to the only color in the room, a red striped plastic. You should see a cart to the right that can be climbed over and pushed toward the plastic to crawl up it and into the vent.
- Jake drops down into a surveillance room where he can use the cameras/mounted guns to aid Sherry. Help her get through her areas, allowing her to get the code from the 1st guard in the locker room, and protecting her in the large office room while she inputs the code. This same room has a Serpent Emblem that can be shot with the camera.
- Once Sherry is through, zoom into the panel and get the code that Sherry entered and use it on the doorway nearby. Make your way through a hallway and through a vent to rejoin Sherry.
Research Facility: As Sherry
- Hang around until Jake shuts off the power and then defeat the J'avo with a Stun Rod.
- Make your way out of the room and use the small alcoves to hide in while you wait for the J'avo to circle back for a stealth kill. There are three other J'avo patrolling the next room, so take them out quietly and head for the locker room.
- Watch the J'avo exit the door, enter a code and leave. You want to hide in the locker across the way and wait for the next guard to enter the code and then exit and head through the door yourself.
- As Jake covers you in the next room, run to the other side of the room and enter the code in the console and exit. Follow the path through the area and up the stairs to exit a locker into a room where you reunite with Jake.
Research Facility - Living Quarters
There are a total of 16 ID Medals throughout the next area that you need to collect in order to get through to the next area. Many drop from enemies, while a few are found in locations.
Start by heading down the hall and taking cover at the corner to shoot the J'avo on the steps square in the head. This guy will ALWAYS turn into a Strelate that drops an ID Medal. The easiest way to take these guys out are through Quick Shots with your Sniper Rifle or melee. Once he is dead, take out his buddies that have likely joined the fight.
Once the first set of enemies is down, head into the small storage room under the staircase and shoot the Serpent Emblem on the shelf between the aisles. Take out the enemies in this room for another ID Medal and head upstairs.
The first hallway will be ambushed by three enemies, so stay back and use your Sniper Rifle to take them out. Once it is clear, break all the vases for items and then head through the first door on your right, to enter a hallway with the japanese version of a barrel and a bedroom with an ID Medal.
The bedroom exits at the beginning of the hallway you sniped down, do walk down and enter the room on your left this time into the library. Kill the J'avo on the first floor and then head to the second floor. There are two J'avo already out to kill and three more come from the room behind the first stack of books. Kill all the enemies and grab the ID Medal dropped from the enemy and another ID Medal on the back bookshelves.
Head back into the hall and turn left, where more J'avo ambush you. Kill them and pick up the ID Medal and then turn around and go back down the hall into the lounge. There are two tables, one of which has an ID Medal under it. Blow it up with a Remote Bomb to grab it and then head into the main hall.
There are two J'avo at the far doors in the main hall that you can snipe as you enter. Make your way around the room, breaking vases, and then grab the ID Medal dropped by one of the guards. Approach the Buddah at the center of the room and insert 3 of the ID Medals to open the western path and then head up the stairs and enter the door.
Take the first door on your left and clear the billiard room of all the enemies, netting an ID Medal. Approach the piano and TRY and play it as Sherry or learn one of Jake's hidden talents to get another ID Medal.
Head across the hall and prepare for an ambush behind you from the billiard room. Defeat all the enemies and grab the ID Medal dropped and the ID Medal on the mantle.
Go back into the hall and take the glass door to a fountain, which has an ID Medal and then continue to the bath. There is another ID Medal hidden in the water below the structure in the second gap. Crawl under and get it and then make sure to break all the vases before you head up the stairs and push the fancy container out of the way for another ID Medal.
Make your way back to the main hall and take out the squad of J'avo that come for you and drop an ID Medal while they are at it. Head to the Buddah and insert the remaining 13 to open the eastern door and gain access to the Bear Commander, 2,300 Skill Points and crates on the back wall. Now, head to the eastern room into the security room.
Research Facility - Entrance
Head back into the main hall and stay away from the main door as you kill the enemies in the area. When you're ready, head for the door that is demolished by a tank. Make your way to the back of the area to draw the tank forward so that it runs over the Buddah statue and then rush behind it, drop on your back, and shoot the Serpent Emblem beneath it.
In order to progress, you'll need to go back up to the top level. Unfortunately, Sherry can not take the quick path up the western stairs and swing across the statute. If you are playing as Jake, swing across and go to the far corner and pull Sherry up with O/B. If you are Sherry, wait for Jake to get to the ledge you drop down and use O/B to climb up. Head for the partner required door and bust it open.
Just when you think you are out of the woods, you are shot down to the bottom floor where you'll have to run away as the tank chases. Watch the gun and make sure to weave away from the wall it targets until you reach the end of the hall and the camera abruptly changes to show the way out. Jump down the ledge, grab the crates, and head out into the courtyard.
As you walk toward the far steps, the tank will crash through the wall. Ignore it and the J'avo and run past the steps and behind them to shoot a Serpent Emblem before you head up the pagoda. Jake will not progress until you pull the lever inside the pagoda, so head straight for it and pull to turn the statue.
Pagoda: As Jake
- Head across the swing, which will make the tank follow you. Grab the Green Herb and then use the tank to rotate the statue by luring it backward and forwards.
- When the swing is parallel with the canal, swing across to the other side and grab the 4,600 Skill Points and .50 Magnum Ammo before approaching the bike for a cutscene.
Pagoda: As Sherry
- While Jake makes his way to the motorcycle, kill any J'avo that come near you and keep moving. Since the tank is no longer locked on you, you should have less of a hard time than before you split up.
