Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - R-04 Hostile Takeover

Lower Building

In the lobby, there isn't much to do until you walk through security. You can destroy the robot behind the desk and you'll start the fight. Four Ninja Cyborg will drop from the ceiling beyond the security gate. Turn on AR as soon as you can because one of these Cyborgs has [Left Hand 4.1]. After this first group, you'll get a trickle of Cyborgs that lures you into thinking you're almost done. After a couple more Cyborgs, you'll be attacked by two Fenrir. Watch out for their attacks and try to get close for a combo. If you can get a series of hits on one of them, you'll be given an instant kill chance which will make the fight much easier.

The area is clear but don't rush ahead because there are quite a few collectibles in this area that you want to get first. Get up to the top of the stairs and then turn right so you're facing a platform on a column. Jump to that, then look to the wall on the left to see two TVs. Use these two TVs to get to the next column and you'll find [Data 4.1] on the column. Remember to manually jump or you won't make it. Return to the top of the stairs and round the corner to the left. In one of the glass cases on the walls will be [VR Mission 4.1]. Remember to collect all of the other goodies from off the walls as well.

When you attempt to get on the elevators, enemies will attack from the lobby and Doktor will try to hack the elevators for you. One of the enemies that attacks you will be a Cyborg with [Left Hand 4.2] so try to find out which one. There's a turret that you can use to shoot the enemies in the lobby but you can't go into the lobby proper to collect anything. Remember not to kill that Cyborg while you're shooting. After a short period, Doktor will open the elevator and you can get on.

Floor 20

On the upper floor will be several enemies so watch what you are doing and try to take out as many as you can with a Zandatsu to make your life easier. If you can kill them all this way then you won't have to worry about the Raptors that are summoned to the floor with an alarm. In all, there are about 5 Cyborgs on the floor to be rid of but if you sound the alarm, enemies will come to help at regular intervals.

There's a Heavy Cyborg on this floor with [Left Hand 4.3] and another regular cyborg (with a rocket launcher) at the far corner of the building with [Left Hand 4.4]. From the elevator, follow the hallway and take the first left. Enter the first room on the right and then check by the right side of the door to find [VR Mission 4.2]. Go back to the point where you turned left and instead go straight this time. Take the next left and then then next right. At the end of the hallway should be a small room with a glass door. You can see [VR Mission 4.3] on the floor in the left corner through the door. Cut your way in to get it.

Turn on your AR and look around this floor to find the three glowing gold panels. Some of these may be hidden (such as behind a bookshelf). If you can't find them, you should be able to follow the gold cables from the locked control panel through the ceiling to the panels. When you've destroyed all three, return to the large doors. When you get there, you'll have to fight your way through: a lone Heavy Cyborg.

On the other side of the door, you'll have a quick chat before exiting into a room being shot into be Sliders from outside. You cah attempt to fight through the next series of rooms but you'll have to put up with being shot at constantly because there's no way to take out the Sliders. The other (recommended) option is to just run straight through the next few areas.

You'll have to avoid a variety of obstacles doing this with debris falling in a variety of patterns. When you get to the upper floor (remember the [Item Box] on the stairs), your running will continue and you'll have to avoid a Gekko on the way. Sliders will start flying through the windows but it's still not advisable to stop and fight. Just keep running until you get to the end and you see a GRAD slide into the hallway. Run just beyond him and you'll enter a square room you can fight in.

This GRAD is going to be a little tougher than those you've fought before though with the practice you've had, it'll probably still be easier than fighting your first GRAD. You've got plenty of room to deal with him however you like. Just get under his ranged attacks and be prepared to Parry and you'll do fine.

When the GRAD has been destroy, Ninja Run out the window and across the Sliders before flinging yourself against the side of the building. Run up the Glass outside and make sure you avoid the red circles that indicate missiles incoming. Try to skirt just around the outside of the circles without going to far or it might become too difficult to come back all the way in the other direction in time.

Upper Building

After getting clear of the outside of the building, you'll have to make your way through a Japanese garden. Inside the garden, you'll be attacked by a group of four Cyborgs followed by another group of four Cyborgs. If you wait on the bridge, the first group will clump up next to you and allow you to take most of them out with a single Blade Mode. The next group will have rockets so you'll need to move around a little more and likely go after the rockets first. Lastly, after that group, you'll be attacked by an armored Cyborg who has [Left Hand 4.5].

To leave, you'll need to cut open the door on the building at the top of the stairs but I recommend that you Ninja Run and cut as you run across the front of it because there's a Cyborg on the other side with a rocket launcher. Kill him and go through to the next part of the Garden.

You can clear this section without any combat. Stick to the left side and you'll see a Mastiff on top of a building. Stick to the wall and you can easily get around behind him. When you do, just get up behind him to take him out. Head back towards the entrance and you'll see stairs that lead down to the lower pathway. There are three Cyborgs patrolling on the lower level but one of them will walk across this path and the left part of this path is out of range of the Mastiff watching on the right. Get him as he passes.

Now go back to the buildings on the left and jump across to the buildings in the middle. Stand above the hole in the roof of the middle most building and one of the guards will patrol in and out of this building. There's another guard that will patrol perpendicularly to this guard. Wait for an opening to grab this first guard and be sure to take his [Left Hand 4.6] before getting rid of his partner. Now make your way across to the catwalk across the room so you can approach the Mastiff from his right. Sneak behind him and take him out to clear the room. Be sure to search under the catwalk that leads to the elevator to find [Data 4.2] inside of a [Blade Box]

Use the red catwalk to get to the next area and go through the barren hallways. This will lead you to a rather large freight elevator and multiple guards. The first is a Heavy Cyborg patrolling the hallway that connects to the one you are in. Wait for him to turn his back and walk away before getting him. Go to the end of the hallway but don't round the corner because there's another guard here. Wait for him to turn around before taking him out. There's on final guard next to the elevator. Walk up behind him and take him out and be sure to take [Left Hand 4.7]. Before boarding the elevator, find the giant fans and cut through to get [Life+ 4 of 6].

Ascent

On the elevator, you'll be attacked by waves of enemies. The first wave will be just two Cyborg but they will be closely followed by an Armored Cyborg. When the minor Cyborgs are gone, two Gekkos will drop in. If you can get yourself in a corner, you can simply wait for enemies to attack you and then parry by pressing in the only real direction that they can attack you from. A few successful counters will end this fight quickly.

After you've gotten rid of the Gekkos, another elevator will come along side your own and drop a couple of shielded enemies. Attack once and they'll counter which will allow you to counter and destroy their shields. After that, a Raptor will appear. The raptor will be followed by two Fenrir.

The elevator will catch on fire and you'll be attacked by a couple of Cyborgs. After killing them, you'll be instructed to get onto the next elevator platform. Before doing so, make sure you kill everything and the last Cyborg you kill should have [Data 4.3]. You may have to kill the Dwarf Gekkos to be able to catch up to the other elevator.

On your new elevator, you'll be attacked by a Heavy Cyborg with [Left Hand 4.8] and several Sliders. As always, start with the Sliders first before moving onto the heavy and so you can be sure to get his Left Hand. When you've trimmed their numbes a little, a couple of Mistiffs will show up. This will be the last wave and the fight will continue until they are dead, even if you reach the top floor.

At the top floor, climb up the boxes furthest from the exit. At the top of these boxes will be a small hole you can slide throw to get behind the glass. In here you'll find [Man in Box 4 of 5]. You can leave this area through the other side of this room. You'll land on a couple of boxes in the exit hallway from this area. Under these boxes is [VR Mission 4.4]. You'll have to cut through the boxes to get it. If they don't seem to want to leave, run over to the elevator and run back to make the pieces disappear. Open the [Item Box] in the corner before leaving.

Rematch

When you walk through the hallways, you'll enter a medium sized room. At the far end will be a body double of Mistral (Metal Gear). After defeating her, when you try to leave you'll be attacked by Monsoon. You only have to fight one at a time and the fights are not much different from before except that this location doesn't allow for some of their special attacks so it will be a much more straight forward fight with more combos and Parrying. For more information on fighting them, be sure to see their pages under Special Enemies.

Leave the room and enter the giant blue lit room. After your chat, go up the stairs and head back to the catwalk intersection. First go left and you'll be able to open an [Item Box]. After you've opened it, head back across the intersection to the other side. Follow this path to the end and then use the pipes to cross over to the other side. Keep going on this side to find a [Blade Box] with [Data 4.4].

Now follow after Sundowner. In this first hallway (leading out of that room), you'll see a structure on the left that will allow you to climb up to the platform above but don't do that yet. Behind that structure and on the ground will be [VR Mission 4.5]. Grab that and then climb up to the upper level. Follow the catwalk outside and check immediately to the right for an [Item Box]. Also look left and you'll see an unattached platform with [Humanoid Dwarf Gekko 3 of 5]. You'll have to take it out with subweapons. Move along the catwalk to confront Sundowner.

Sundowner

Sundowner isn't the most difficult fight but his shield panels will explode in your face if you aren't careful with what you're doing. He will have plenty of regular attacks that you can parry. Whenever he collects the panels in front of him, be sure to not attack him or he'll do some pretty good damage to you. Any time he does this, however, you can hit him with a Blade Mode attack. Activate Blade Mode and markers will appear on his shield.

Hit the markers to slice right between the panels. When you do so, his defenses will open up and you'll be able to cut off a panel or two. For this part, be sure to not cut anything even close to his body except for the glowing arms or you'll explode.

The fight will proceed in this method until you cut off all of the panels. It is possible to defeat him without doing so but the fight will go much longer and the problem with this is that you'll be constantly shot at by the Hammerhead that's circling.

Once you remove the panels, Sundowner's style will change. He'll be far more aggresive and use the two blades together in their scissor configuration rather than as two individual blades. This fight is a lot faster and more straight forward but you need to be more defensive since he'll attack so much more.

After you lower his health all the way and you watch a cutscene, you'll be on the wings of a Slider and have control of it. You'll have to fly through the building to the top while dodging support columns and blasting obstacles out of the way (Heavy Attack button). At the top, cut through the ceiling to get out. This will be followed by a QTE:

  • Heavy Attack + Activate
  • Blade Mode
