The game begins with Kratos chained up by the Furies. You're visited by one of them, who strikes at you and ends up knocking you loose enough to move. When prompted, use the left analog stick to dodge Megaera's attacks, with the one knocking one of your hands free. You can now attack with Square or Triangle, but you also need to dodge like before. After a few more attacks, your other hand will be free and you'll drop down with her to an area below.
THE PRISON OF THE DAMNED
Megaera will now run away and you'll have to give chase. Follow the path, jumping and double jumping over the obstacles until you run into some of her bugs. Kill them, then jump up to the next area and kill some more. Drop down and jump over the gap in the ground, and when you enter a tunnel of sorts, go to the right to find a note and a Red Orb Chest.
Follow the other way until Megaera destroys the ground beneath you and you end up below. Here, you'll see one of her bugs infect a prisoner, which you'll then have to fight. All you have to do here is press R1 to grapple the enemy, then do some attacks with Square and Triangle, as well as throw him with Circle.
NOTE
This is a great opportunity to earn the Maybe You Should Call a Doctor? trophy, as the single enemy will keep respawning as long as you don't grapple him. Just remember to keep attacking to keep your Rage meter filled and after 2 minutes, the trophy should pop up.
Once you finish with the short grappling tutorial, more enemies will spawn. You may notice as you attack them, a white/red bar will appear above their heads. This is the exact same as the button prompt from previous God of War games, so grapple them and Kratos will either brutal kill them (red) or run with them (white). When the initial set of enemies are killed, new ones armed with swords will spawn. Remember to use the right analog stick to dodge, as they will attack frequently when given the chance.
After all the enemies are finished, head to the white spot on the ground and press R1 to grapple the ledge above, bringing it down. You can use this to jump to the ledge above, so do that and continue on. There's a Green Chest ahead, which restores your health, so open it if you need some.
Continue on, grabbing the note on the ground next to the ladder if you want, then climb it. Open the Red Orb Chest to the right of the door, then open the door itself. Follow the path to your left, picking up the Sword, which can be used as a secondary weapon in combos.
Go through the open gate and you'll have to fight some infected enemies with swords. After killing them, you'll be fighting a bunch of Megaera's bugs, so remember to keep moving and dodging. Once they're done for, Megaera will use her bugs to infect one of the Hecatonchires' arms, which causes an insect-like creature to burst out of the palm.
MINI-BOSS: HECATONCHIRES' ARM
This is a mini-boss and it isn't too bad, as long as you remember to dodge with the right analog stick. It will use its claws to strike the ground, then drag them towards the background. Keep attacking it in between the attacks, until it rears back and executes a new attack. It will pound the ground with one claw, then do a sweep attack with the other, followed by a sweep with the first claw. Once you hit it enough, you will be able to grapple it, which starts a short QTE that will start the second phase of the battle. The second stage of the battle takes place in a new battleground, with some holes placed on both sides of the central platform. The Arm will either do a sweeping attack from one side of the area to the other (hide in one of the holes), or it will pound both claws in the middle area. Keep attacking until you get some health orbs. It now has a new attack, which involves it sending a claw in one of the holes, but it will keep doing the same two as before. Attack until you see the red marking above its head, which means you need to grapple and finish the QTE to kill it.
After the battle, you will be going down a slide where you'll have to avoid the obstacles in your way. Once you reach the bottom, you'll enter the next area.
