Redstone Torches are crafted like a torch, but with redstone, instead of coal. These torches are used as both a power source and a light source. The torches, unlike levers, or repeaters, are in a constant on position, never turning off unless removed. If you do want to turn something off, you can use a repeater, which is made from the torches.
