DOTA 2 - Lane Creeps

Lane Creeps spawn behind each set of Barracks every 30 seconds, starting at the 0.00 mark and progressively becoming tougher as the game advances. There are three different types of lane creep: melee creeps, ranged creeps and siege creeps.

To begin with, 3 melee creeps and one ranged creep spawn every 30 seconds.

Melee creeps (unless blocked) spearhead the line of creeps and will typically meet the other team's creeps halfway across the map. These creeps have more health than ranged creeps but deal less damage. At 17:30, 34:00, and 50:30, an extra Melee creep is added to the wave.

Ranged and siege creeps, meanwhile, follow behind the melee creeps and attack any enemy unit they come in range of. Siege creeps deal more damage to buildings and have more health, but they only begin spawning at the 3.00 mark (i.e. the seventh wave of creeps) and spawn every seventh wave. At 45:30, an extra Ranged creep is added. And at 48:30, an extra Siege creep is added to every seventh wave.

At every 7.30 mark, melee and ranged creeps receive a permanent statistic increase (shown in the table below). These stat bonuses will continue for 30 stacks (i.e. for 3 hours 45 minutes, but most game typically end well before the 1 hour mark!).

If a team's melee or ranged barracks is destroyed, this will result in the other team's lane spawning mega creeps, instead of normal creeps. Mega creeps are stronger versions of regular lane creeps but give less gold and experience to the enemy when killed.

If all of a team's barracks are destroyed then upgraded mega creeps spawn on all of the other team's lanes, at which point the game will be very difficult to turn around.
