Axes are another common weapon found in Hitman. Most levels have some form of axe or another depending on the style of the environment. For instance, on levels with wooded areas, you'll likely be able to find a regular axe nearby but on a level like Rosewood where you spend the entire level indoors, you'll find multiple emergency fire axes.
Axes can be used for both stealth and direct combat. When used as a stealth weapon, 47 will wrap the axe around the neck of his victim and twist the axe away so that the blade is pulled across. It can be used in regular melee combat and, despite its relative size, it can be thrown as a deadly weapon or distraction.
| Axe
| The Axe is the first environmental weapon you'll encounter in the game. You'll frequently find it sticking out of wooden objects such as trees or crates. Any out door area is likely to have an axe somewhere. |
| Fire Axe
| The fire axe is relatively rare compared to the other two axes, only appearing in two levels - Rosewood and Countdown. It is large, red and frequently found by glass cases. |
| Tomahawk
| The Tomahawk is small relative to the other two and despite its traditional use as a great throwing weapon, it still carries a "heavy" rating, limiting how far it can be thrown. |
| Battle Axe
| There is only one place in the game that has a Battle Axe and it's in Dexter's penthouse armory. Otherwise it functions just as the other axes do. |
