Hitman: Absolution's gamepay seeks to combine new game mechanics with classic Hitman gameplay:
New HUD
The game will feature a new heads-up display, the old map being replaced with an Instinct Mode which acts similarly to Detective mode in the Batman series, or the Eagle vision in Assassin's Creed, showing the locations of NPCs. The new HUD will also warn Agent 47 when he is spotted by a guard.
However, for those who prefer a more realistic and difficult challenge, the game will include a 'Purist' mode, which will completely disable the HUD and Instinct Mode.
combining classic Hitman game mechanics with new mechanics.
Point Shooting
Hitman: Absolution will feature a slow-motion shooting system, similar to the Dead Eye system in Red Dead Redemption, and the Mark and Execute feature in Splinter Cell: Conviction.
Contracts Mode
Contracts mode will allow the player to select up to three targets within a given level to assassinate and so create their own challenges, which can in turn be sent to friends.
New Cover and Stealth Features
Agent 47 will be able to take cover behind structures (similar to most third person shooters) and interact with certain environmental features in order to disguise himself (for example, in one trailer he is seen standing by a box of donuts and pretending to eat one in order to throw a cop off his trail.
Shadows can be used to provide cover, vents can be used to traverse areas of levels in safety, and 47 can hang off the side of ledges (and pull enemies over the side).
Agent 47 will also be able to briefly cover his face with his hand when walking past guards (though this will cost 'Instinct').
