Poke Balls are the means to catching Pokemon, the three most common balls are Poke Ball, Great Ball and Ultra Ball. There are multiple kinds of balls that depending on the Pokemon will have a higher or lower chance of catching. The Net Ball is a poke ball that has a higher chance of catching water and bug type Pokemon, another example of these kinds of balls is the Heavy Ball which works better on heavier Pokemon. There are various other special balls with their own abilities, many of which can be made by giving apricorns to Kurt in Azalea Town in the Johto region.
