The Ilex Forest is located in southern Johto, it's south of Goldenrod and west of Azalea. Before you can get through the forest you must catch two loose Farfetch’d in a mini game, when you return them to their owner you will receive the HM Cut which is essential to exiting the forest. Inside the forest is the Ilex Forest Shrine allows you to back in time with your childhood friend to fight Giovanni if you received the special event. Deeper inside the forest is a move tutor who teaches any of your Pokemon who can learn Headbutt.
