The Stygian is the most basic of demons and in fact may be no more than puppets. Stygians appear in the form of broken dolls or mannequins held together by demonic fibers. On lower difficulties, stygians generally don't require more than a simple combo or two before they are completely destroyed.
Stygians of all kinds walk on two legs and carry a weapon of some kind. These weapons range from clubs and blades up to and including small chainsaws. Before each attack, they pull their weapon back behind them and it will light up for a brief moment. When the light goes out, they will begin to swing their weapon. While you may think that they would attack quickly because they appear light weight, they actually take a moderate amount of time before they actually swing, possibly as a result of their relative weakness.
Any weapon is sufficient in dealing with Stygians though Rebellion or Osiris tend to be the most useful. While you could use Arbiter or Eryx, these weapons tend to knock them away which may prolong the conflict. The lighter weapons are still capable of stunning these light enemies without pushing them away from you. In small groups, Rebellion tends to be most effective but since these enemies can frequently come in groups of eight or more, the Osiris is also viable.
