Far Cry 3 is a first-person shooter set in an open world. The game utilizes a mission structure for its main story, with plenty of side missions to do as well. The game is pretty standard shooter fare, although it has some light role-playing elements.
As players finish missions, kill enemies and various other things, they will gain experience points. Once the experience bar fills up, the player will gain a skill point that they can use to purchase a skill from one of the skill trees. Also, the player only starts out being able to carry a limited amount of money, items and ammo, so the player can hunt animals and harvest plants in order to craft bigger pouches to increase their carrying capacity.
STEALTH
Far Cry 3 also has a stealth component to the game. As you sneak around, the player will sometimes notice a white arrow filling up at the top of the screen when near enemies. This is their Detection Meter and if it fills up completely (and flashes), then the enemies have spotted and will pursue you. However, if you manage to sneak up behind them, with the proper skills, you will be able to perform Takedowns, which will kill the enemy silently, giving you extra experience.
