Far Cry 3 returns the series to a tropical island setting, in contrast with the African-inspired setting of the previous game. The game takes place on a tropical island found somewhere between the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
The protagonist is Jason Brody, a tourist who happens to have been stranded on an island infested with violent criminal groups and separated from his girlfriend who has been captured by Vaas, the game's main antagonist.
The main goal of the game is to escape from the islands (as there will be more than one) and their crazed inhabitants.
There will also be a separate co operative campaign with its own story (which takes place prior to the events of the single player campaign) and characters which can be played by up to four players online or two players using split screen.
