Path of the Hunter quests will have you hunting normal animals and rare animals. You can tell when you're going to be hunting a rare animal, by the red "RARE" stamp on the posted when starting the quest. Rare animals, when killed, will yield a special item that can't be sold or discarded, allowing you to craft one of the pouches to its final level.
BOW HUNT: BLACK PANTHER
- Where: X: 353.3, Y: 702.1
- Reward: $250
- Weapon: Bow
- Kills: 1
This is the only Path of the Hunter that doesn't start at an outpost, as this one starts northwest of the Orphan Point outpost. It is best to stay up high and use your camera to find the Black Panther before anything. It is powerful and quite fast, making this one of the harder hunts in the game. If you have an Animal Repellant syringe, use it so it won't attack you.
BOW HUNT: BLOOD KOMODO
- Where: Cliffside Overlook
- Reward: $225
- Weapon: Bow
- Kills: 1
This can be a challenging rare animal, as you will encounter some extra Komodo Dragons along with this one. They are located on a small little island in the highlighted area. Either use a Hunter's Instinct or the camera to identify where they are. If you're good with the bow, stand back and try to snipe them from a distance; it will take a good 3-4 hits to down the Blood Komodo.
BOW HUNT: GOLDEN TIGER
- Where: Mosquito Yard
- Reward: $250
- Weapon: Bow
- Kills: 1
It can be a little challenging seeing exactly where the Golden Tiger is located, and you will likely run into a normal Tiger, so use the plentiful number of Amber Leaves around to craft a Hunter's Instinct to locate the animals. It will also help to have an Animal Repellant syringe on you, although it might not be needed.
BOW HUNT: MANEATER SHARK
- Where: Kell's Boat Repairs
- Reward: $275
- Weapon: Bow
- Kills: 1
This rare animal can be a little challenging, unless you figure out the trick to easily kill it, since you can't attack at all while underwater. You will need an actual boat and not the jet ski, as you will need to use it as a platform to kill the shark. Once you get into the area where it could be, use your camera to scout out all of the sharks. The darker-colored one is the Maneater, so make sure you don't run it over with the boat, then wait until you get a clear shot with the bow to fire. It might be wise for it to get closer to the shore before killing it, so it's easier for you to skin it.
BOW HUNT: WHITE BELLY TAPIR
- Where: Rust Yard
- Reward: $225
- Weapon: Bow
- Kills: 1
MACHETE HUNT: ALBINO CROCODILE
- Where: Bridge Control
- Reward: $450
- Weapon: Machete
- Kills: 1
Crocodiles cannot be tagged with the camera, so you will need to visually hunt with your eyes for the white-like croc in the waters. The only way to kill one with your machete is to go into the water and let it grab you, then mash the button that appears on your screen. Note that this is the only rare animal skin that isn't used for crafting.
SHOTGUN HUNT: ONE HORN
- Where: Camp Murder
- Reward: $200
- Weapon: Shotgun
- Kills: 1
SHOTGUN HUNT: UNDYING BEAR
- Where: Cradle Gas
- Reward: $275
- Weapon: Shotgun
- Kills: 1
It is best to have the Bull shotgun for use in this mission, and maybe an Animal Repellant just in case. Be very careful when hunting this, as it can be hiding around any corner and you'll be dead in a few hits. When you go inside the cave, check every corner and when you finally find it, let loose with your shotgun and hopefully you'll kill it before it gets a chance to attack.
SNIPER RIFLE HUNT: YELLOW NECK CASSOWARY
- Where: AM 12
- Reward: $225
- Weapon: Sniper Rifle
- Kills: 1
