Archylte Steppe -Year Unknown-
Black Hole Gem - You get this fragment during the course of the main story when you defeat Faeryl.
Goblin Fragment - This is the first quest you'll get from the tribe of hunters. Talk to Tipur on the top floor to get this quest. Kill the goblins and return to Tipur for the fragment.
Fragment of Invincibility - You must first collect the Ochu fragment to unlock this quest. Talk to the woman near the sheep to get this quest. Once you have the quest, you will find Invincible out on the plains during cloudy weather (both levers cold). He's not overly difficult but you need to watch for when he summons his sword. The sword will act independently and can be quite damaging so as soon as it appears, take it out and you won't have any probably with Invincible himself. It's worth noting that he drops both of the weapons required for Noel's ultimate weapon but one is uncommon and the other is rather rare so it might take a few tries.
Ochu Fragment - Kill the Ochu in the Clearwater Marshes for this fragment. A fully developed party shouldn't have much of a problem and I recommend that you wait until then. The Ochu is definitely something you can defeat at lower levels but he is quite fierce and he constantly summons microchus to fight you which can be difficult to cope with.
Long Gui Fragment - You get this fragment by killing the Long Gui that appears in the Steppe when it is sunny. He is not an easy enemy, sporting quite a bit of health, some heavy hitting (though slow) attacks, and wounding damage.
- Paradigms:
- Sen, Sen, Sen
- Syn, Syn, Sen
- Sab, Sab, Sen
- Rav, Rav, Com
- Com, Com, Com
- Some form of healing
Start with paradigm 2 to buff up, and then change to 3 to put debuffs on one of the legs. Now switch to paradigm 4 and stagger the leg. Kill it as you would any other beast. Then repeat the same process for the other leg. Once both legs are down, change to 3 and quickly put Deshell, Deprotect, and poison on him. Now build up his stagger to the 900%+ area and change to paradigm 5. It is possible to kill it in one stagger though it may take two. If the stagger wears off, just start at the legs again.
Very important though that you make sure you change to paradigm 1 if you see an attack coming (the camera is frustrating here because it never looks at the feet) and keep your health topped off when possible.
Yomi Fragment - Yomi is both very tough when fought traditionally and very easy when you have patience. You must first get this quest from one of the Hunters and then you have to jump over to his pillar with a chocobo. He only appears during certain weather (stormy I think). You can beat him with only three or four paradigms.
- Sen, Sen, Sen *optional
- Sab, Sab, Sen
- Med, Med, Sen
- Syn, Syn, Sen *optional
That's right, no commandos or ravagers. Basically, use paradigm 2 to get poison on Yomi. If you really want to do direct damage at this point, you can but it's really not worth the effort so I would just change to 1 until Yomi goes into its protective barrier. Once it does, I would use 3 to heal up and then switch to 4 to put on some protection. Don't dawdle in 4 though. As soon as Yomi comes out of its protection, make sure you switch back to 2 and put the poison on it. Then it's just a battle of attrition. When you kill it, you will get the fragment.
Woolly Stone - After getting the Goblin fragment by helping Tipur, talk to the woman down the stairs standing on the Red Cactuar painting. She will ask you to collect wool from three sheep in the plains. These sheep are larger than the normal sheep and will each appear in different directions from the camp. You will find one SW, S, and SE of the camp. Once you've collected all three, return to the woman for this fragment.
Crimson Crystal - You get this for activating the Red Cactuar statue directly S of the hunter camp.
Azure Crystal - You get this fragment for activating the Red Cactuar statue in Grave Ridge behind the Gigantuar statue.
Forest Crystal - You get this for activating the gold cactuar statue in Grave Ridge that is caught up in the tornado. It only appears during cloudy weather and shows up on the map as a red cactuar statue. This is also the statue that teleports you to the Clearwater Marsh
Amber Crystal - Activate the N red cactuar statue in the Clearwater Marsh for this fragment.
Violet Crystal - Activate the SW red cactuar statue in the Clearwater Marsh that only appears during stormy weather.
