The year is 1912 and the player assumes the role of Booker DeWitt, a disgraced Pinkerton agent. The game is set on the airborne city of Columbia where Booker is tasked with finding Elizabeth, a young woman who has been held captive for twelve years by the beast called Songbird.
Similar to the other BioShock games, the world of Infinite is full of chaos that has resulted from strong ideals taken to the extreme. When DeWitt arrives, Columbia is full of ultra-nationalism, specifically American exceptionalism, as shown by the abundant number of flags, patriotic music, and propaganda posters that showcase the idea that Columbia is a 'haven' for the 'unwanted' in the world.
