The Grasslands are a pretty well rounded Biome with lots of a resources but it is also considered relatively safe Biome. When you start a game, you always start on a Grasslands (unless you change your game settings). There are a moderate number of trees, some simple rocks, flint, grass, flowers, Saplings as well as some basic foods like rabbits, carrots, and berries.
The major concern on the grasslands will be bees because sometimes you can run into large fields of Killer Bee hives. These can sometimes form walls of hives that can be difficult to cross. Sometimes if there are a lot of trees then you can burn them up with a big fire or if you have some Beefalo in heat nearby then you may be able to get them to destroy each other.
