Monster Meat is rather toxic and is dropped by most monsters at least 50% of the time. Other times, these monsters might drop another specific type of loot such as silk. For the most part, Monster Meat is inferior to almost every other form of food because it is harmful in a lot of ways. Beginners may want to simply avoid it altogether but experienced players can usually find ways of using the Monster Meat to their benefit.
For example, Monster Meat can usually be used in a Crock Pot in place of other meats (though using more than one piece will usually result in Monster Lasagna). This will get rid of the negative properties when the final product is made. Monster Meat can also be turned into Monster Jerky which can instead be fead to birds in a Birdcage for Eggs or given to the Pig King for Gold. It can also be fed to pigs to make them friendly but giving them too much (4 pieces) will result in them transforming into Werepigs that will attack you instead.
