Archipelago is an interesting World. It starts out like most normal sandbox modes at the beginning of spring (with a normal seasonal progression) on a Grassland Biome. The Map consists of six islands that are only connected through Wormholes. The island you start on is the only one which doesn't have one of the Five Things so you'll need to hop around to find them all. Each island contains only one or two Biomes so be sure to take what you need before jumping through the Worm Hole.
Each island will bring its own hazards and the hazards will be frequent. For the most part, these hazards will be creatures and sometimes they will greet you as soon as you come out of a Worm Hole. Expect lots of Spiders, Tentacles, Merm, and likely an island packed with Killer Bee nests.
Because of the danger when you arrive at a new island, you'll want to go through with plenty of healing items, a method to restore Sanity and armor/weapons. Try to condense the things you need as much as possible (try to carry only one or two types of food for instance if possible). Wearing armor going through a Worm Hole is going to require you to not bring a Backpack.
Ultimately, there's no way of knowing which order you'll visit the islands so be prepared for anything. You'll encounter most of the various Biomes in the game but they will tend to be the more dangerous of these (For instance, Grasslands will have lots of bees). If you have a Walking Cane and armor then you may be able to take this level by storm.
Since this level tends to show up later (but not always later) in your Adventure, remember to be prepared not just for the final Worm Hole but also prepare for the next world as well.
