Tombstone Trail is located in the mountains north of Hamelin. When you enter, you'll have the princes following you. There is a trap here that can be bypassed with Levitate, but it only slows you down, so it's not really needed. The path to the north has nothing, so head along the eastern path for now. When you get to the broken bridge, cast Rejuvenate to fix it, then open the nearby red chest for a Curse-Be-Gone.
Continue along the path, crossing the next wooden bridge and opening the red chest at the end for a Cheeseburger. Go back and talk to the skeleton blocking the trail. He won't let you pass since you're alive, so cast Poison Apple on yourself to fool him into thinking you're dead. When you awaken, one of the skeletons will give you a Skeleton Key, which you won't be able to use until later on in the game.
You'll now have a choice of three paths. Head to the end of the left path to get the chance to open a green chest, which contains a Black Blade. The right path is a dead end, so head up the middle one. After crossing a narrow passage, you'll see a purple chest on your left, which you can't open yet, so head to the right. You'll eventually come to a run-down shack, where your party will rest.
Once you gain control again, use the Waystone to heal and save, then continue up the passage. You'll come to a spot where it starts getting dark, which you can cast the Magic Lamp spell to give you some light. The path to continue to blocked, and can be opened by lighting all the candles in the area. Go to the end of all the paths and use Magic Light to light the candles. You'll find a red chests with a Misty Shroud and an Avenger's Badge in the areas.
When all candles are lit, the screen will shake and the path will become unblocked. Follow this path to the next Waystone, where you should heal and save. Go the path leading up the trail to a wide open area, where you'll encounter a boss!
BOSS: CANDELABRACADABRA |
That is quite a name for the boss. The boss mainly uses status ailments, which means that defending against its attacks might not fully guard you. Snuff Out causes blindness, and Boo! causes light damage, as well as Curse. Wacko Lantern is its big attack, and can cause pretty good damage, so make sure you go All-Out Defense and defend yourself. Not far into the fight, Drippy will chime in and say that those that use a lot of darkness attacks tend to be weak to light. That's convenient, since the Emperor gave you Arrow of Light. Using it a couple of times on the boss will stun it, giving you some seconds to cause good damage. Overall, the boss is pretty easy and as long as you defend against Wacko Lantern, it should be a cakewalk. |
After the battle, Marcassin finally puts an end to the boss. Go up to the altar and grab Mornstar, and you'll also gain the Breach Time spell. Cast Vacate to exit Tombstone Trail and head back to Hamelin. Go back to the castle and to the Emperor. Some scenes will play out and you'll get your first piece of belief. Cast Breach Time to return to your own time, then go and give Marcassin some belief.
The Mornstar isn't complete and requires you to find three magical stones. However, the map detailing the location of these was stolen by Kublai, the leader of the Sky Pirates. Before you leave, Marcassin gives you some spells; they are Ward, Fuse, Insight and Travel. Travel is the most important spell of the bunch, allowing you to instantly travel to any previously visited location.
The Solosseum is also open now, and there will be plenty of Errands and Bounty Hunts available.
