To get to the Miasma Marshes, you need to go to Perdida and exit out the back of the town. Make sure you rest up and save, as well as buy some MP-replenishing items for the long road ahead. When you're ready, take the other exit in Perdida and run down the path until you get to The Miasma Marshes.
NOTE |
Those who wish to complete their Creature Compendium should know that there's one enemy along the path to Miasma Marshes that disappears once you finish the next two dungeons, which is the Firefry, so it might be best to fight one to register it. |
When you enter the place, a cutscene will occur and you'll be able to finally explore it. It should be noted that there are "puddles" all over the place that will damage you if you step in them; this can be remedied by using Levitate. As you go forward, use the Waystone if needed and stick to the western paths to find a red chest with an Espresso and a blue chest with some Dead's Man Duds in it.
Go back to the beginning and start heading on the eastern path, taking the first northern split to find a red chest with an All-Be-Gone. Keep going east and when you come to an L-shaped piece of land, you'll find a red chest with a Fruit Flan. In the northeast corner of the map is a blue chest with a Fiend's Fang inside.
Start going west and when you come to a fork, head north to find a red chest with a Tonic. Go south at the previous split path to find a purple chest with a Night Armor. Go west and north, then when the path starts going east again, go to the western shore and look for a "!" spot to hit the green chest, which contains a Sprite Dew.
There's nothing else to grab, so follow the path to the east to find a Waystone, so use it to heal and save. Keep following the path until you get to the end, where you'll face off against the next boss.
BOSS: VILEHEART |
Vileheart doesn't hit too hard, but he does have a trick that can poison the entire party (Vile Breath). There's nothing you can really do against this, as he'll use it a lot and it's not worth it to keep curing the poison. His other big attack is Viledriver, which hits around Vileheart, so either go All-Out Defense or stay away from him. He is weak to light, so use Arrow of Light as needed, and make sure you heal a lot. |
After the battle is over, you will be transported to some place, so just walk forward until you trigger a cutscene. Once the scene is over, go outside to meet with Swaine. A certain someone shows up again, and after a scene, Oliver will return with the Mornstar spell.
BOSS: VILEHEART, PART 2 |
You'll have to fight Vileheart once again, although this battle will be much quicker. He does have two new moves, Vile Roar and Vilence. The first hits all party members for moderate damage, while the second hits one member for dark damage. To finish this battle quickly, just keep using Mornstar, which should only take about 4 castings to finish Vileheart for good. |
Make sure you heal and save, then make your way to Nevermore Castle.
