Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness is an upcoming Japanese tactical RPG developed by Nippon Ichi Software for the Playstation 3. Designed to be a direct sequel to Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, the game will follow the main characters of the first game rather than those that appear later in the Disgaea series.
Laharl is now Overlord of the Netherworld and has taken his father's place on the throne. However, the demons have no respect for him and a group of demons called the King Krichevskoy faction are trying to usurp him and put someone more suitable on the throne.

Gameplay
Disgaea D2 is a strategy role-playing game that uses a lot of the same mechanics present in previous Disgaea games, as well as introduces plenty of new ones. The game takes place in a central hub, with the player going to individual stages to fight battles.
Characters/Classes
One of the biggest draws to the Disgaea series is the amount of classes/characters available to the player. There are certain characters that will join your party during the main story or upon completing certain maps, but the rest of the units have to be created.
Equipment
Equipment is an important part of the Disgaea series, as characters will need weapons to help boost their stats, both offensively and defensively. Equipment comes in three different rarities, which are Common, Rare and Legendary. Previous game had values that dictated which rarity it was, but this was removed in Disgaea D2.

Skills
Your party members can't just get by on normal attacks alone. Each character has access to plenty of skills, not just unique to each character, but also from their weapons as well. Since monsters have their own weapons, which doesn't have their own skills, they get their own skills upon leveling up.
