Attacks
Single Swing
A slow horizontal swing with a huge hit radius, it is best to roll into this attack and get some attacks in while it recovers.
Two-handed Swing
A weapon swing with both hands, this baby dishes out a huge amount of damage, but can be blocked. That being said, rolling under the attack is a much better use of stamina.
Stab
A quick thrust attack toward you, this attack should be blocked or avoided by rolling to the right.
One-handed / Two-handed Slam
When the gargoyle raises its axe above its head it is going to slam down and cause massive damage. It is best to block or roll to the right out of the attack range.
Tail Whip
If you are standing behind the gargoyle he will try and whip his tail at you in a horizontal fashion. To avoid this, slice off the tail for the unique weapon and take this attack out of its arsenal.
Flying Tail Whip
Jumping into the air, the gargoyle will whip its tail under its body and attack anything in front of it. This can be blocked or avoided by backing up.
Flying Swing
A Single Swing attack from the air, this can be blocked or backed away from.
Landing Attack
Flying up and landing behind you with a strike, this can be blocked by turning around the moment you see the gargoyle landing.
Shield Bash
When close to the gargoyle it may bash its shield at you. This is easily avoided by rolling to the right and getting some hits in.
Flame Breath
This attack is only used when the gargoyles are under 50% health and spread across from the right to the left of the area. To avoid this, run to the left side of the gargoyle's body to protect yourself from the attack area.
Strategy
HP: 999 (Tail - 95 HP)
Summon Signs:
- Solaire of Astora - located right outside the fog gate.
- Knight Lautrec of Carim - after being rescued, his summon sign can be found on a ledge across from the ladder below the fog gate.
Start off by making sure that you stay far away from the edges of the area, as you can easily back up off the edge or be hit off by an enemy attack. Go all out on the first gargoyle, watching for signs of enemy attacks. When it reaches 50% the second gargoyle will drop down and enter the fight. Make sure to focus all your attacks on one and finish it off to make the fight more manageable. If you want to make the fight easier, use a Gold Pine Resin, as the gargoyles are weak to Lightning.
