Wei will run into many enemies during the game, which usually all fall into one of four types.
ARMED THUGS
Armed Thugs are exactly as their name suggests. They are thugs that have a weapon of some kind, usually either a melee weapon or a gun. They cannot be grappled, so you need to either take them out from a distance, if you have a gun, or counter them when they're ready to attack. One of the Cop Skills allows you to quickly disarm gun-wielding thugs, while one of the Face Skills allows Wei to disarm enemies by countering when his Face meter is active.
BRAWLERS
Brawlers cannot be interrupted when they attack, meaning once they start attacking, the only way to stop them is by countering. They tend to be slower than Strikers and stronger, as well as block more often. The upside is that they can be grappled easily, allowing Wei to isolate them from enemy groups.
GRAPPLERS
Grapplers, as their name suggests, are able to grab Wei and do grappling moves on him. They are easily distinguishable, as they are larger and heavier than other enemies. They don't block often, so your best option is to keep attacking them with normal punches and kicks, as well as heavy attacks. Should one grab you, there is usually a QTE required to escape their grasp.
STRIKERS
Strikers excel in hand-to-hand combat and are the more common enemy type encountered throughout the game. They tend to block often, as well as escape from Wei's grabs, but there's not too much that makes them more special than the above.
