The Popstar Case is unlocked after finishing "Night Market Chase," and is the first case in the game. It involves taking down Popstar, who is a known drug dealer. There are three leads for this case, and this case also introduces Drug Busts to the player.
LEAD #1
REWARDS - $1,200, Report - Winston Chu and Sam Lin
Meet Ming at the noodle shop that is north of Night Market. He will ask you to go to Popstar's courtside hangout, which isn't too far from where you are now. Popstar will give you some drugs for Ming if you help him get some money that's owed to him first.
Go to the guys that owe Popstar money, who are right around the corner from where Popstar's hangout is. Grapple the guy who tries to attack you, then throw him into the telephone booth that is nearby. Once you do that, go to the other guy and extort the money from him.
Bring the money back to Popstar and he'll hand over the ketamine, but some cops will soon show up. Get in a car, if you can, and keep driving around to lose the cops. Once the cops are gone, call Teng about everything that you have learnt so far. Once you get off the phone with Teng, bring the ketamine back to Ming to finish this part of the case.
LEAD #2
REWARDS - $1,200, SFPD - Psych Evaluation, Wei Shen
When you begin this lead, go to the park that is marked on your map. This is your introduction to Drug Busts, so pay close attention to this lead. You'll find some thugs guarding an electrical panel, so you'll need to take them out before you can continue. Go up to the panel and press the designated button to start hacking the camera.
Refer to the Security Cameras section for details and tips on how to hack these cameras. Once you have successfully hacked the camera, go back to your apartment and use the large television to access the feeds. Select North Point and then the only feed that is available. You'll see various people on the feed, one of which will be dressed in all black. This person will always be the supplier, so hover over that person until he is highlighted, then press the designated button to have him arrested, which concludes this lead of the case.
LEAD #3
REWARDS - $2,400, Grubby Clothes (outfit), Death of Officer Charles Ho (report)
This is the conclusion of the Popstar case, so get in the chicken van and wait for Popstar. Your job is to now tail Popstar without raising the suspicion meter to its max, which will result in mission failure. It fills up every time you hit something or do something outside of normal rule-abiding driving. The good thing is that it will decrease whenever you are following the rules of the road.
Once Popstar stops, get onto the roof of the nearby container and take cover. You will be told to take out your phone and hit the designated button to enter camera mode. Take a photo of Popstar when he's with the supplier; if you take too long, you will fail and have to restart from the checkpoint. You then need another picture of Popstar in the act.
After doing that, Popstar and everyone else will go down to the docks, so wait until they do and go after them. Talk to the guard standing there, pressing the designated button when it pops up, and Wei will pretend he lives there and is coming back home drunk. Climb onto the roof of the boat and get into cover once again.
Take out your phone once again and take a picture of Popstar on the boat, which needs to be done rather quickly this time. Once that's done, you need to call Teng and then head back to the chicken van. You have to bring the van to the Undercover HQ, but only after losing the cop that is now trailing you. Once you get to the HQ, park the van in the garage to put an end to this case.
