| On the remote world of Erebus VII, at the very edge of human-occupied space, an ONI research facility which was once teaming with researchers now lies eerily vacant. Although the hostility of this world had been initially considered by its team leaders, it is tragically clear that a great many ‘things’ had simply not been taken into account. |
Abandon is a small to medium sized map with two large towers. The central structure tends to hold most of the combat with player frequently trying to hold the top level. The top level provids fantastic vantage points of most of the map. The other tower has just an elevator and a top floor. It doesn't have as much of a view but has a great view of the top level of the central tower making it a good launching off point for a counter attack.
Around the outsides of the map are tunnels leading through the rock formations that allow some cover from the top of the center tower. It has enough cover that if you move sporadically, you can stay safe but if you move in a predictable manner, there are large gaps that you can be shot through.
At the back center of the map is a shorter structure with enough cover to be protected from the central tower. Unfortunately, to approach the central tower, you need to come out in the open and approach.
Depending on playstyle, most weapons are useful. Jet Pack is one of the most useful abilities on this map because it allows you to attack the top floor of the central tower from a variety of angles rather than just a few paths.
