The Sniper Rifle has the longest range in the game. It shoots a single shot directly where you want it to go. Be aware that it doesn't always go in a straight line. Some games in the franchise have had bullet drop (from gravity) and travel time over long ranges and it hasn't been announced how physics will or won't affect the bullet this time around.
This weapon can shoot up to four shots in relatively rapid succession. The Bullets are high calibur armor piercing rounds and have previously been very effective against vehicles as well as people. It is also the only weapon that fires a bullet strong enough to punch right through an enemy. It is actually possible to kill every player on the other team with a single well placed shot (and a significant amount of luck) but it's still rather possible for a skilled sniper to purposefully line up a double shot.
It should be noted that a body shot from the Sniper Rifle is not deadly if it has to go through shields even though a single shot can go through multiple shielded heads.
