The Grenadier is a Drone type enemy and analogous to a COG Gear. As the name suggests, Grenadiers always carry grenades (and this makes them a good point for resupplying if you're low). Frequently, they tend to carry a Gnasher shotgun though they may occassionally carry other weapons such as the Sawed-Off shotgun or a Lancer for longer range combat.
While they don't seem to be any more dangerous than normal drones, their grenades can cause a problem for Gears that have been pinned down, forcing them out into the open.
