The Bloodmount is the dangerous half of a pair of units. Bloodmounts always appear being ridden by Beast Riders but the threat is not the Drone on the back with the gun but the Bloodmount itself. The Bloodmount is extremely fast, agile and powerful. It can leap over small gaps and barriers in a quick, easy motion and their melee attacks can devestate a player. Care should be taken with the Beast Rider since it is extra damage you'll be taking but the bulk of your attention should be on the Bloodmount itself.
When attacking a Bloodmount, it is almost always advisable to go for the mount itself first. Killing it will dislodge the rider who will revert to a normal infantry unit but killing the rider will make the Bloodmount even more aggressive.
There are two good approaches to this aside from simply using powerful weapons. The first is to use a Scorcher which deals damage to Bloodmounts very quickly. The second and more likely is to shoot the Bloodmount's face mask. While they don't take any damage from this shot, it only takes 4-5 rounds before the Bloodmount becomes irritated and peels the mask off. When it does this, it will pause for moment and it's usually plenty long enough to kill it before the animation finishes.
