After the Mauler, the Grinder is probably the largest Boomer enemy. The Grinder carries a rather large Mulcher machine gun which can deal large amounts of damage very quickly and accurately over a long distance. This weapon is deadly both as a direct weapon but also a suppressive weapon. The continuous barrage of bullets can make it difficult to combat the smaller and faster enemies that will be trying to overrun your position. If they are successful, you could find yourself being swarmed by several enemies that otherwise wouldn't have gotten to you at all. By the time you've dealt with them, the Grinder could be standing right next to you.
The Grinder is similarly a tough enemy. He can take up a remarkable amount of damage to his torso and his helmet prevents him from taking critical damage to his head. However, if you have a precision weapon, a well placed shot can knock the helmet loose allowing you to get a head shot. Similarly, despite being protected at the head more than most enemies, the Grinder is probably the easiest enemy in the game to hit in the head. Since the Grinder never has to reload and moves very slowly, their head barely moves at all, allowing you to rack up massive damage if you take the time to line up your shot.
