The Hammerburst is a semi-automatic marksman's rifle. It has seen a few different modifications over the years but it's most recent iteration had a toggle function that allowed for Iron Sights aiming. This zoomed in a little and allowed for much more precise aiming but this put you in a first person view, taking away a large amount of your situational awareness. A successful active reload made the weapon much more accurate and powerful.
It is unknown what form this weapon will take in Gears of War: Judgment. It is likely going to retain it's Iron Sight functionality. It is a starter weapon for some classes of locust though it's unknown if it will be readily available for the COG.
