The Boomshot is a single shot grenade launcher generally carried by the Boomer class Locust. The grenades that it shoot have good range but are slow moving and as a result see a large amount of bullet drop during it's flight. This makes it very important to aim up over even medium distance. As a result, shooting a boomshot is part art form but with a little practice, it can be an exceptionally powerful weapon.
A grenade from the Boomshot is powerful enough to kill any basic infantry unit in a single shot on contact as well as dealing massive damage to even the largest of Locust. It has a moderately large splash area so in some cases, it's very useful to aim for the ground under your enemies (or between them). While the Boomshot is a standard weapon for the Boomer Locust, it is also one of the two starting weapons for the Soldier class in Overrun.
