The Cleaver is the weapon used by the Butcher and sometimes Theron as a melee weapon. It does a decent amount of melee damage and usually two quick swings are enough to take down a player. It also has the distinction of being able to block a chainsaw blow and enter a "chainsaw duel" which no other weapon is capable.
Interestingly, the weapon can't be gotten from the Butcher, only from Theron. When the player uses it, it's a rather limited range weapon but can take out large groups of enemies quickly if they bunch up. It is generally advised to avoid using this weapon if possible because it does little to improve upon far more versatile weapons.
