The Locust have little use for aerial transport but having the ability to attack from the air is something else entirely. For this purpose, they've tamed/trained the Reaver. The Reaver is a flying beast capable of shooting large rockets at both air and land forces. It has legs that are made more of tentacles than anything else and it uses this both for flight similar to how jellyfish but also for landing. These tentacles are capable of supporting the beast's body in a walking fashion and because of how flexible they are, they can cushion the Reaver coming in on a rapid decent.
Ultimately, Reavers will shoot at you from the air before landing right in front of you and attacking on the ground. When on the ground, it will continue to shoot rockets at intervals but it will also try to stomp on you. The stomp is easily capable of downing its enemy in a single hit and then killing with the next. On top of this, when landed, the two passengers (usually a Beast Rider and a Theron) are capable of firing at you as well.
There's no particuarly easy way of taking out Reavers other than lots of weapons fire or the use of powerful weapons. The only definitive weapon against Reavers is the Torque Bow which continues to live up to its name here.
