The Butcher is a large Boomer class Locust that carries a Cleaver for a weapon. Compared to the Mauler, the Butcher is a much lighter enemy with very little armor, no shield, shorter range, and much lower damage. In most instances, despite being a Boomer, the Butcher isn't much of a threat and is likely to be more of an annoyance for soaking up your ammo rather than actually being difficult to deal with.
Despite being probably the least dangerous Boomer, it is important to remember not to lose track of them during combat and to remember that when paired with a lot of smaller enemies, they can make for a tough balancing act.
