THe first time that you visit the town of Oasis, you'll likely notice some signs that say "Pierfest" which is a reference to Beerfest. Beerfest is the colloquial name for Oktoberfest, a German festival of beer and it is also the name of a movie about the same event. Considering the movie's humorous roots, it's like that the name is more of a reference to that than the actual event itself.
