The College of Winterhold is a joinable Faction in Skyrim. It has similarities to the Mage Guild from earlier Elder Scrolls games. The College focuses on magical education, so this faction is the best for mages.
To join the College, you have to travel to Winterhold and speak to Faralda, on the bridge to the College of Winterhold.
Joining has multiple Benefits:
- Master-level trainers in Illusion, Destruction and Alteration
- Expert-level trainers in Enchanting, Conjuration and Restoration
- Access to alchemy supplies, an alchemy lab and an arcane enchanger
- Access to shopkeepers that sell spell tomes
- Access to skill books
- Followers
- Storage
- A free bed
You can be suspended if you commit a crime agains a member of the College.Once the nine quests of the main story line are completetd, the player becomes an Arch-Mage, which gives him a Quarter and numerous free items.
