A number of different plotlines feature within Skyrim. The most important of these is the Main Quest, which deals with the return of dragons to Skyrim after several centuries. Another large quest chain is the civil war which is raging at the same time.

The remaining significant quest chains largely consist of guild quests, which are auxiliary to the story but add a great deal of content.
